Nvidia’s Earth-2 platform will work with G42 to advance weather forecasts for the UAE region and provide high-resolution forecasts to tackle extreme weather challenges.
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is leveraging cutting-edge technology to address the effects of extreme weather events. Nvidia’s Earth-2 platform, working with UAE-based AI and cloud computing company G42, will be at the forefront of this innovation and provide high-resolution weather forecasts to combat the challenges posed by severe climate conditions.
Addressing climate challenges with AI
In recent years, the UAE has seen a significant increase in extreme weather events, including heavy rainfall, thick fog and intense heat. These conditions disrupt daily life and affect transportation, urban planning and public safety. The need for accurate weather forecasts is especially important in integrating renewable energy sources into the grid and ensuring their stability.
Traditional world weather models often lack the solutions needed to effectively predict weather patterns unique to the UAE. To fill this gap, G42 has developed a generator AI prediction system that can utilize Nvidia’s Earth-2 platform to generate detailed regional weather forecasts at resolutions of up to 200 meters.
Advanced AI Prediction Technology
The G42 prediction system employs NVIDIA’s recovery architecture within the PhysicsNemo framework, allowing global weather data to be reduced to a more detailed level. Trained on Nvidia’s H100 GPU clusters, the system can provide national forecasts at a resolution of 2 km within minutes. This is a significant improvement over traditional methods that take several hours.
The expanded AI system also includes a second variant of the Corrdiff model, providing hyperlocal predictions for Abu Dhabi at a resolution of 200 meters. This feature captures the complex interactions between geographical and urban factors, providing a comprehensive understanding of local weather dynamics.

High-resolution weather simulations are invaluable to the government and industrial sectors of the UAE.
